The recognition, presented by cricketing icon Sunil Gavaskar in Mumbai, positions India’s home-grown AI product ecosystem alongside global competitors — and highlights the growing commercial maturity of Indian-built Generative and Agentic AI.
Mumbai, 30 August 2026 — The story of Indian technology has, for two decades, been the story of services delivered to the world. In the last two years, that story has been changing — Indian companies are building AI products of their own, and Indian AI leaders are being recognised for it. The Time Cyber Media Award for AI Leadership and Innovation, presented to Dr. Anand Fadte in Mumbai on 30 August 2026 by cricket icon Sunil Gavaskar, is one of those moments.
Dr. Fadte, Chief Technology Officer at Aviantos and PieStudy, was recognised for his work on two enterprise AI products built in India for global use: avData, an AI-native document-intelligence platform, and pieCRM, an agentic customer-relationship-management product.
Indian AI Products, Global Ambition
avData sits at a category boundary that has proven difficult for even well-funded US-based startups to occupy: the layer between enterprise content systems (SharePoint, ERP, CRM, health records) and modern large language models. It has been architected for the regulatory and cost constraints of Indian and emerging-market customers, and is now finding traction with global buyers who share those constraints.
pieCRM has taken a similarly ambitious position. Where global incumbents Salesforce and HubSpot have retrofitted AI into CRM-as-forms architectures, pieCRM has been built agentic-first: reasoning systems that observe, plan, and act inside the CRM on behalf of the human user.
A Career That Bridges Indian and Global Enterprise
Dr. Fadte’s professional history places him unusually well to build for both markets. He earned his MCA and BSc in Computer Science at Goa University and later a Doctorate in Business Administration in Artificial Intelligence from SSBM, Geneva; a Post-Graduate Program in AI and Machine Learning from IIIT Bangalore; and an MBA in the insurance domain from ICFAI. His career has spanned five continents — including senior roles at Tieto/TietoEVRY in Finland, MSM Unify in Canada, Qorbital in the United Kingdom and India, and Accenture across the United States, United Kingdom, Belgium, and Australia.
Over 22 years, he has led delivery organisations of up to 400 professionals, owned P&Ls of €100 million or more, and been honoured more than forty times, including Tieto’s Feather in the Cap for innovative business solutions (2017), Accenture Celebrates Excellence honours (2008, 2010, 2012), and the Leadership Excellence Award at the Education 2.0 Conference in Dubai (2024).
Voice in the National AI Conversation
The Time Cyber Media Award follows a period of visible thought leadership. Dr. Fadte was recently invited to deliver a talk titled “AI in Leadership in Generative and Agentic AI”, addressing how Indian and global executives should re-conceive their operating models in an era of increasingly autonomous AI. Dr. Anand Fadte is a frequent speaker on AI Leadership, Generative AI, Agentic AI, and AI Transformation, with engagements spanning Dhempe College Goa, JK Group, DY Patil University, Goa University, and G. H. Raisoni.
He has also delivered AI transformation and consulting programmes for Amdocs, StudyCulture, GenExcellence, Webnotics, and other organisations. His research paper, “Data Extraction Approach for Aggregator Platform,” was published at SSBM Geneva in 2024.
A Presenter Rooted in Indian Excellence
The choice of Sunil Gavaskar as the presenter of the award drew widespread attention. Few figures embody the discipline, technique, and long-arc consistency that Indian excellence at the global level requires. That the award recognises engineering craftsmanship in AI — a field in which national pride has sometimes chased hype at the expense of substance — makes the symbolism especially fitting.
